Module #3 Assignment

I created a graphic that visualizes the areas of historic floods in the United Kingdom and provides key information about what to do in the event of a flood.

Module # 2 Google Table, Tableau and Geographic map

I chose to create a geographic map of historical floods within the UK. Data for this map has been collected since 1946 when the predecessor bodies to the Environment Agency started collecting detailed information about flooding incidents. There is quite a bit of information on this one map and as such, ways of pointing out individual areas with labels helps with processing it all. Circle and point would work well as it allows concentrated areas of focus.

Module #1 First Assignment

The visual analytics that I chose is the "Tsunami Sources Poster" The data consists of the locations and severity of tsunami events globally between the years 1610 B.C to A.D. 2023. Visually, it shows each of the areas that tsunamis occur, the number of deaths, and what caused the tsunami, whether that be an earthquake, volcano, landslide, or other causes. Some of the knowledge that can be obtained from this visual is the frequency of tsunamis in areas, the distribution of tsunamis, and severity of them as well. The models that are used to create this visual involve categorizing and representing tsunami events on the map and is sourced from the NOAA and WDS Tsunami Source Events database.   Tsunami Sources Poster - NOAA  - Direct link to visual provided.
